| | | | | | | | | Earth Day at Anacapa: Wellbeing for Ourselves and the Planet
Today is Earth Day! Anacapa students are invited to reflect on how caring for the planet can also mean caring for themselves. Many activities that reduce our environmental footprint also support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, creating a powerful connection between personal health and environmental stewardship.
Simple actions like walking or biking to school not only cut down on carbon emissions, but also boost cardiovascular health and improve mood. Spending time in nature, whether it’s a beach walk, a hike in the mountains, or time in the school garden, has been proven to lower stress, increase focus, and promote emotional balance. Practicing mindfulness outdoors, journaling under a tree, or engaging in creative expression inspired by the natural world can offer moments of calm and clarity.
Students can also take action by reducing single-use plastics, eating more plant-based meals, and participating in local clean-up efforts. These activities encourage responsibility, build community, and give a sense of purpose, all while reducing waste and protecting ecosystems.
This Earth Day, we encourage every Anacapa student to choose one activity that supports both their own health and the planet’s. Whether it’s riding a bike, planting a tree, skipping a plastic water bottle, or simply unplugging for an hour to connect with the outdoors, small choices add up.
When we take care of the Earth, we’re also taking care of ourselves. That’s the true spirit of Earth Day and something Anacapa students can carry forward all year long. |

There is no formal sign-up process. Emails are normally how people inform them they are coming to volunteer. Drop-ins are also welcome, which many folks do just show up. The email to inform them you are volunteering is on the flyer.
