As part of our diverse Anacapa community, we have children with anaphylactic food allergies, gluten intolerance, and other health-related food needs who attend Anacapa. We thrive on supporting and encouraging one another and creating a safe and inclusive environment that fosters learning and growth.
"Nut-Aware policy" as follows: In a "nut-aware" environment, the focus is on a mixture of education, hygiene, and specific accommodations, such as: ● Food Allergies and Other Health and Safety Issues on Campus and at our School: ● Discouraging nuts: Staff and community members are strongly discouraged from bringing any nut products except hazelnuts and almonds onto campus or to any school-related events. We ask the parents of every child to consider peanut and tree nut alternatives (except hazelnuts and almonds) when planning individual packed lunches and snacks. This goes for any snack eaten on school premises or at school-sponsored events. ● All school-provided food will be free of peanuts and tree nuts except hazelnuts and almonds. The following will be peanut- and tree-nut-free (except for hazelnuts and almonds): all snacks and meals provided by the school on campus and all food prepared in our kitchen as part of a class. ● Tree nuts include: brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, and walnuts ● All meals and snacks provided by the school on outdoor trips will be peanut and tree-nut-free. ● All foods eaten off campus that contain peanuts and tree nuts (except almonds and hazelnuts) should be consumed off campus, and hands should be washed upon return to school. ● All birthday treats provided by families must be free of any peanuts or tree nuts except hazelnuts and almonds. Please label homemade treats with a list of ingredients. ● Potlucks and Community Food: Please refrain from including peanuts or tree nuts (except almonds and hazelnuts) in potlucks or community food. We kindly request that you always provide a list of ingredients with your food. ● Strict hygiene: Everyone is required to wash their hands thoroughly after handling food.

Middle School Mystery Adventures Our middle schoolers are diving headfirst into the world of mystery! From reading and analyzing classic stories to taking quizzes that challenge their detective skills, students are sharpening both their critical thinking and creativity. They’ve just begun exciting projects across all their classes—designing, building, and bringing their ideas to life in ways that showcase their unique talents. Everyone is buzzing with anticipation for next week’s visit from the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Forensics Team, who will share real-world insights into crime scene investigation. And in just two weeks, the middle school will head to San Jose for our much-anticipated Mystery Field Trip—a highlight of the season!
High School Highlights Our high school students have launched exciting new projects in both science and history, delving into topics that spark their curiosity and deepen their understanding. This week, they also enjoyed a special visit from the Santa Barbara Zoo, where they learned about volunteer opportunities and ways to engage with our local community. The High School students also introduced the idea of the Senate to everyone. Looking ahead, the students are eager for their upcoming trip to San Simeon, which promises to be both educational and memorable! |
