This course aims to familiarize students with basic camera use in a variety of situations, black and white film processing, and black and white printing. During the semester, students work with a number of traditional and non-traditional processes including pinhole cameras, digital manipulation, color reversal, and print films. Methods of critical analysis, recent trends in photographic art, the world of commercial photography, and issues related to visual literacy are also discussed. This course helps the student in an investigation of photography as an expressive medium.
