Every year on the Friday before Thanksgiving, Anacapa students and teachers enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Feast on campus. As we wait for the turkeys to be carved and the food to be set out, everyone has an opportunity to make a leaf cut-out and to write a phrase of thanksgiving on it; these are then posted on the school's "Thanksgiving Tree."
With each student bringing food to share with everyone else, this very organized potluck always provides a bountiful array of yummy traditional dishes.
Students, faculty and staff make their way to the huge outdoor buffet table in the Rochin Adobe backyard to begin serving up their food. Headmaster Gordon Sichi has a few words to say about our school year and what each student means to the school--then the eating begins!
Once we've finished the main course, the senior class serves dessert. It's an incredible time that includes fun, food, friends, and the Anacapa family!
