The Silk Road

Auction  2008

It was a sight to behold! Dragons and lanterns, reds and golds, transformed the campus into "The Silk Road" for this, the 25th annual school auction.

The silent auction in Elliott Hall was a veritable marketplace of items to bid on, from student-made jewelry to restaurant certificates or garden stools.  Offered in the "Gold Room" silent auction in Lassen were the bountiful grade theme baskets, as well as other elegant and extravagant baskets like the "Viva la Fiesta", plus and incredible array of jewelry, wine, paintings, fine clothing and photography.

Lunch was a buffet that included chow mein, broccoli /beef and orange chicken, spring rolls, fried rice and salad, with fantastic cupcakes for dessert.  Thank you to Panda Express for their great tasting take out!

Special thanks to John and Julie for their support of Anacapa.

It was great to see Harry Elliott, a long time supporter of the school, having lunch with Anacapa Alum mom, Eryn, and her kids, one of them now a 7th grader in Anacapa.

The school music ensemble performed several numbers in the transition from silent to live auction and the choral group sang two lovely songs in keeping with the Asian theme of the event.

The 22 items in the live auction ranged from Adirondack chairs to a week in Northern Spain; from brunch and local spa treat at the Biltmore to a collection of remodel services donated by local contractors.

A huge crowd pleaser was a student and his band. They played two songs to promote his donation of half-hour of music for a party at your home.

Auctioneer Paul Clay did a fantastic job of teasing the guests into bidding well and the student programs will be well supported by the funds raised at this very successful and fun event.
