“There is no adequate defense, except stupidity, against the impact of a new idea.” Percy Williams Bridgman

I grew up near the beach in Southern California and spent a lot of time in the great outdoors in Northern California as well.  Over those years, I developed a deep connection with nature, especially the ocean.  I went to UCSB, majored in aquatic biology, and intended to become an oceanographer.  During my senior year of college, I had an internship at some local schools and immediately decided that teaching science was for me.  I earned my Master’s degree and teaching credential last year at UCSB, and fortunately found Anacapa.  Everyone here is wonderful, and it has been a great experience so far.

B.S., Aquatic Biology, UCSB; Master's in Education, UCSB.

While earning his degrees, Jason worked in biology labs and did research SCUBA diving around Santa Barbara.  He also spent two years teaching science at local high schools and junior high schools.  Before becoming a full-time teacher, Jason managed a Cold Stone Creamery and substitute taught.
