The Anacapa School provides many opportunities throughout the year for our student to perform. Whether it be our Grassroots Theater production, the school auction, the talent show, or our spring play, there are many places for Anacapa students to show off their talents. The benefits of education in the arts have been well documented, and we strive to give our students educational and fun ways to develop their skills in this important area.
Grassroots Theater 2007: Our theme for this year’s production is “TV LAND.” During the fall semester, students have been studying the history of television and the role television plays in society. We have watched shows from all genres of TV—comedy, drama, westerns, variety shows, news shows, etc. Students have selected skits, songs, and monologues from their favorite shows and are preparing to perform them at our Grassroots Theater production. This show will be on the Anacapa School campus, Friday and Saturday, January 5 and 6 at 7pm. We hope you’ll join us for a very fun evening!
Spring Play 2007: Shy shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon feels life is passing him by until he gets a will from his millionaire uncle. It seems his uncle has left him SIX MILLION dollars under one condition: that he take the corpse on a vacation to Monte Carlo. If he fails, the inheritance will go to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn. Naturally he’s followed by a zany cast of characters who will do anything to get their hands on the money. Mark your calendars now for May 11 and 12 when we present “Lucky Stiff,” a contemporary play from Broadway.
